I’m a big fan of crossing things off my TODO list, and finishing a product feels much the same way. Here were my skincare empties for September — show me yours!
Banila Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm
This is a cult favorite cleansing balm for good reason. The little spatula scrapes effortlessly across the balm, which turns into an easily spreadable, manageable oil in your hands. There’s a light scent to it, but it’s from a fruit extract so not problematic. Importantly, the balm emulsifies and rinses off easily, leaving you ready for your next step! Already repurchased.

Versed Skin Soak Rich Moisture Cream
This is a relatively light cream that applies nicely but doesn’t quite cut it for dry skin in a dry climate. I mixed more squalane in it to make it a final PM routine step, but it’d make a great night cream for oily skin types, or drier skin types that don’t find they frequently wake up dry. Would repurchase if not living in an arid climate.

Rhonda Allison Drops of Essence
This oily serum was recommended by my esthetician and has been a frequent repurchase. It’s a great way to add a bit of hydration and moisturization without feeling like you’re adding TOO much — dry skin can use this as a serum, but more oily skin might like it as an actual moisturizer, or a last step before sunscreen in the AM. It does have some essential oils, but they aren’t at high enough levels to imbue the product with a smell. Already repurchased.

Dr. Teal’s Bath and Body Oil
A great pick for the avid bather with dry skin. I like to add a generous squeeze of oil to my bath, which keeps my skin from feeling stripped when I get out. As the “eucalyptus and spearmint” hints, however, it is Highly Fragranced. In a bath this isn’t such a big issue, but if you were trying to use this straight on your skin post- bath or shower, it might be less ideal. Would repurchase, but hoping to find something less fragrant.
